| I'm Confused, what is the WWW,
Internet and ISP? Gail do not worry no one knows:) Just
kidding, it is not that hard. www stands for the World Wide
Web, think of this as a spider web. The spider web represents
the telephone lines that connect all the computers in the world
up. What seems like a big tangled mess is actually an organized
way for the world to send email, chat and view content on the
web through standard protocols. The Internet is another name
for WWW. ISP (Internet Service Provide) is who you pay to connect
up to the WWW or Internet. AOL and Bellsouth are companies that
allow you (for a fee) to connect up to the WWW. |
| What is the minimum cost for getting
a Website up? First you need a domain name which $35 a year.
Then you need a hosting service, our economy package is $19.95
a month. Then you need to build your Website. A one page site
can be done for about $100 (no images only serves as a page
directing user how they can contact you). So Jack, about $155.00
can give you a presence on the Internet.. |
| What is a Hosting Service and
do I need it? These providers rent you space to you for
your Website. This service allows you to use their Web Servers
to place your Website so the world can see it. If you can host
your own site then you do not need them. Hosting Websites requires
specific hardware, software and a static IP address. Without
this knowledge we strongly recommend that you let someone else
host your site. Thanks Kim for your question. |
| What is a form? Sam, a form
is a special web page that allows users to type in information
such as their name and address. After the user selects submit,
the information is passed to the server where it can be stored
in a database or sent to by email. |
| What are the events to create
a rollover? onMouseOver and onMouseOut. |
| What does CCS and can you send me
an example? This stands for Cascading Style Sheets. This
a a global method for setting font styles, colors and most HTML
tags. Thanks Sandy and you sample has been sent. |
| I built a Web page with ASP but
it does not work? Amy, you need to make sure you have used
the proper extension on the file .asp and that your hosting
provider allows asp pages to be executed. |
| Do you need web developers?
Sure we are always looking for experienced professional web
developers. You must have a 4 year programming degree and at
least 3 years experience in the field. Hope to hear from you
David. |
